Hub was out of town for a few days last week and got back into town early Saturday morning. I love weekends already because they mean we get to spend more time with him, but with him being gone earlier in the week, I was looking forward to the weekend even more than usual.

The kiddos and I had the best day on Friday starting with a park date with our friends, (I’m starting a Friday morning summer park tour – more on that later) going for ice cream in the afternoon, and ending our day at the baseball diamonds to watch a few friends play. We all had a blast. I had promised J that he could have a movie night in my room and have a sleepover with me that night since Hub was gone. We stayed up waaaaaaay too late, but it was totally worth all the laughs and snuggles. I just can’t get enough of him. ❀

We were all pretty tired after such a busy day on Friday, so we took it easy most of the morning on Saturday. Hub and J cut the grass, as usual. I had to run over to my parent’s house to feed their cat, so the kiddos and I decided to walk around their yard for a bit and look for fish in their pond. As we were walking, the neighbor’s grandkids were outside and asked if we could come over to play. I used to play for hours and hours with their moms when I was little. It was just so cute to see all of our kids playing together on the same swingset that we used to play on when we were kids. It brought back a lot of great memories, that is for sure. On the way back through the yard, we had to stop to make a couple wishes. πŸ™‚

We headed home and spent the rest of the evening outside in our yard. J and I planted grass seed down our trail, and then he, Hub and little Zilla watered it. J thought it was so fun to get “all soakin wet”. Hub has done so much work on this little trail of ours, and I just love it so much. It is definitely my happy place. πŸ™‚

The next morning, Hub got J’s monster truck running for the first time. We garbage picked it last fall, and J has been making plans for it all winter. He wants to add a smokestack, chains on the wheels, a snow plow, and a button that can make it change into an airplane. You know, typical stuff. πŸ˜‰ Anyway, we replaced the battery with a lawnmower battery, and now this thing moves. Fast.

We took him to my parent’s house so he could unleash all that power in a little bit more space. πŸ™‚

and then his day was made when a tractor came to plant in the field across the road. We watched that thing go around and around over and over again. The poor driver was probably sick of waving to us. None of us were sure exactly what it was doing, but J was insistent that it was planting. I came home and looked it up in his big tractor book, and sure enough, he was right. At least one of us is learning something from reading that book hundreds of times! πŸ˜‰

Another weekend gone too fast, but man, it sure was good while it lasted. ❀
