J started asking us to take him fishing last week. Sometimes he gets these ideas in his head, and we have no idea where they came from. He’s never been fishing before, but he knew it was something he wanted to do. Luckily for him, we were up for it, and Grandpa has lots of fishing poles and said we could borrow a couple.
He and Hub went out in the back yard (in the rain) and started digging up some worms. Of course we could have bought some, but we all agreed it would be more fun to find our own. Hub did most of the work while J supervised. 😉
There is a little lake in the back of our neighborhood, so we headed back there to try our luck. Honestly, I figured we wouldn’t catch anything, but I thought J would get a kick out of it anyway.
It turns out I was wrong. J had a fish on his line within minutes. In fact, he ended up catching three fish in the short time we were out there! We let him check them out and touch them and then put them back in the lake. He was so proud – and we were too!
I’m excited to take him again and find out if it was just beginners luck, or if he really is a fishing natural. 🙂
